Created for Eternity
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
2 Corinthians 4:16,17 NKJV
Eternity… a concept brimming with great wonder and beautiful mystery.
Imagine, for a moment, what it will be like once we enter eternity. Few words can truly capture what it means to live forever, where time ceases, and yet we’re all destined for it one day.
What does eternity look like for you?
Let’s meditate on this powerful scripture, dear friend:
“So we are not discouraged. On the contrary, even though our outward self is wasting away, yet our inner self is renewed day by day. For our light momentary affliction is producing for us an everlasting weight of glory beyond all measure, because we do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are everlasting.” 2 Corinth 4:16-18 REV
The dark world we live in, and this current turbulent life, has a way of taking our eyes off what truly matters. We face a myriad of challenging circumstances every day, and it's so easy to lose heart and get lost in the throes of what’s happening around us and to us.
But let’s not forget, dear friends, Who we’re made for, where our home truly is, and what we should be focusing on and building our lives around—knowing Christ and making Him known.
All other material concerns, including the heavy burdens, sorrows, and afflictions we experience, pale in comparison to the eternal life ahead, where we can finally be with our beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ and our sovereign Father God.
Beloved friend, rest your heart today in Christ’s eternal loving embrace. Set your mind and heart on eternal things—it is the best and most rewarding way to direct your life.
“… For our light momentary affliction is producing for us an everlasting weight of glory…
… we do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are everlasting.”
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for encouraging my heart today. Thank you that the afflictions and challenges I face are light compared to eternity, and that in You, all things are working for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
Lord, renew me from the inside for Your glory.
Help me to set my heart and mind on You and on eternal things.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
